![]() There is a button in there named "Default" which is supposed to assign the port's manufacturer MAC address, but hitting the "Default" button left the MAC address blank and ipconfig continued to report 00-00-00-00-00-00. ![]() I went into the Control Panel | System | Hardware utility and sure enough the "Locally Administered Address" for the device was blank. After a good bit of investigation, I noticed through ipconfig that my ethernet interface succeeded in getting a DHCP IP address, but that the MAC reported was 00-00-00-00-00-00! How can that be? No matter what I tried, I couldn't connect to any website, including a local network web server I run to host my studionet. All went seemingly well until I tried to get out the ethernet port to hit my favorite forum. To shorten the story, I went big time - I reformatted my application drive and reloaded XP. Also, the only non-grayed-out buttons were the ACT buttons.īut then I discovered a number of other things weren't working properly, like the browser, the file manager, etc. My first clue was that in booting CWSP 8.5, the menu bar was badly mangled, only Options and Help were visible. Some of the app uninstalls took great liberties removing shared DLLs, etc., some of which the operating system (XP SP2) would have apparently liked to keep around. Well, it turns out I did a lot more cleaning than I had intended. So I decided I wanted to give the DAW a little house cleaning the other day - to give CWSP 8.5 a little more breathing room and to thin out the registry a bit.
